We were keen to launch after the Easter holiday so immediately following the Launch Event on Friday 16th March we shared information by email using our 'Call Parents' system on Monday 19th March to enable parents attending Parent Consultations that week to begin to ask questions. We spoke to the two classes selected for the pilot and also the four year group classes who had not been chosen. All six classes received a letter outlining the project and explaining decisions.
Parents were then invited to two evening Information Sessions held on Wednesday 28th March 2012 to share the aims and detail of the pilot project. We used a Doodle Poll to anticipate attendance at each of the sessions.
We aim to be responsive to parental feedback and questions and received useful suggestions which we were subsequently able to incorporate.

Ahead of the Official Sciennes Launch, families were asked to:
*Complete Parent Baseline Survey for Hull University research study
*Send an email to angela.christie@sciennes.edin.sch.uk to inform us you have completed the survey and let us know if you have broadband and/or wireless at home.
*Sign Ethics Research Consent Form for Hull University Research
*Provide an email account for your child, not tied to a credit card. We have worked closely with technical and education advisors over the Easter holidays and our initial set up of the iPads involves adding free Apps and school paid Apps and using a school based email account for all pupils. Our model may change as the pilot develops. We are piloting configuration of the devices as much as their use and will consult with you on this. Please see FAQ section below on how to set up an iTunes account or find further advice in our 1:1 Glow Group.
